Is it just me or has Adam overshadowed Zack over time.....

Dont get me wrong i Love both Zack and Adam,I think they are both great rangers and fighters...But for some reasons fans,producers,and JYB himself have done lots of things to overshadow Zack's legacy as the original Black Ranger.Among those are:

-Tons of fans mentioning Adam on the same breath as the Jasons and Tommys(to wich i have always said "theres jason and tommy,then there's the rest of the power rangers"")

-Adam slways comming back everytime the MM Black ranger makes a comeback(Always A chance,Once a Ranger ext...)

-Johnny Young Bosh being so close to the PR fanbase(Morphicon '07)

Again,I dont have a problem with him but it seems all these factors have contributed into fans forgetting about zack as the original black ranger and the original dancer and the first african american to be a ranger).Lets show some love for good old Zack in here:)

Then Adam replaced him.

Adam is probably second to Tommy for experience. Like Tommy, he was Dino-Coin ranger, a Zeo ranger, and a Turbo Ranger, and has picked up the gig 2-3 more times.

Zach was around for a couple years then went poof.....

I personally don't think so. The episodes where most people seem to praise Adam are the Zeo episodes and his two post-Turbo appearences. Because he stuck around for so long and came back, most people deem him to be better than Zack overall. Looking strictly at what each character did in the MMPR era, I think most people (by most I mean more than 50%) would say Zack did more. It's not an overwhelming majority, but I do think it's a majority nevertheless. His two returns have in no doubt boosted his popularity and seem to have designated as "the" MMPR black ranger, but to be fair, I really don't think this could have been avoided since it seems to be more of an actor-oriented issue. JYB seemed to be more willing to return than Walter Jones. That's not to say Walter has anything against the fanbase (he showed up to Morphicon and seemed to like the fans), but he hasn't gone out of his way as much as JYB to stay in touch with the show and fans. Lastly, Zack is by no means an unpopular ranger. I have been around here for a long time and I have only met two people that didn't like him. Having only a handful of detractors is a rare thing for any character discussed on this board. Bottom line, I do believe Zack is less popular than Adam (due to Adam's length of stay and returns), but Zack is still a very popular character and for that I don't believe he's underrated or overshadowed.

Zack was great, there's even a fight where he pulls a Lion's Barrage style kick on a putty

and, Walter Jones was at Morphicon '07, along with JYB

and, Walter became a SAG actor, and PR almost all the time have used non-SAG actors, so there was no chance of Zack coming back, at the time

but anyway, I like both charaters, they rock, but I think Zack is a victim of circumstance, cause he wasn't ''able'' to come back, while Adam did

The reason Adam overshadowed Zack or whatever is because of more air-time he had over him. Correct me if im wrong but isn't the reason the guy who played Zack(Walter or whatever)was kicked off because he wanted more money? i guess that makes sense but then y did i hear alot of ppl, i think it was on here, say it was a racial thing or something because he was a africian-american black ranger and the writers didn't want that cus they didn't wanna seem racist.

I think the reason is as I've said before Zack was a completely racist stereotype, While Adam had some race based characteristics hewas also a more human character this makes him a better character and so he'll overshadow Zack because of it.

I beg to differ Mr King. Maybe you have not heard of certain ranger with the name "Rocky DeSantos" the ranger who was pushed down our throats so much and god-moded to the point he was the most powerful ranger in history.

Hell Rocky was so hyped and god-moded than even his ancestor Rocko became a ranger in an effort to make it look like Rocky was destined to be a ranger and that Jason guy was just keeping his coin warm for him. It was outrageous.

Not to mention episodes like "Wizard for a Day", "Fourth Down and Long" (in which rocky steals the leadership by Tommy and leads the rangers in a scrimage) , "Target Rangers" (They make it all about Rocly's love) , "Invasion of the Ranger Snatchers" , "A Few Bad Seeds" and so many more.

Also how did he leave? Did he say goodbye and pass on the torch? NO the writers made him go out with an injury because they had built up the character of Rocky to the point where if he found a replacement the guy would ways be compared to the great rocky. So they injure him so it's it's shown he HAD to stop been a ranger.

He would have been in forever red as well but they needed Cole to destroy Serpentera and be about the team-up however the writers of wild force knew if Rocky was in it he would destroy Serpentera with his god-moded sword in seconds and it wouldn't be about the team up it would all be about the second coming of Rocky DeSantos the god of power rangers.


So in conclusion if anyone overshadowed everyone it was Rocky DeSantos.

Adam has overshadowed Zack, since Adam got way more airtime.. Plus, when he returned in Once a Ranger, pretty much everyone fangasmed and went into "Adam is God" mode.

Both Adam and Zack are great rangers, but I'd really like to see a return of Zack, rather than another Adam return. Since Adam has the power coin, Zack wouldn't be able to be Black Ranger though, so either Adam would give Zack back the coin and take up the Green Zeo powers again, or Zack would get a completely new set of powers.

I'd personally like to see Zack return as a White Ranger.. that would be pretty cool.

I think the biggest reason Adam overshadowed Zach is the fact It was not as hard to fill Zachs shoes as it was Jason's in the first place. Adam was a very well developed character and well suited and in my opinion overqualified for his position. He should have been selected to be red ranger instead of Rocky. Rocky got the short end of the stick for the simple fact he had to replace someone like Jason who had did so much and in my opinion is the best ranger of all time. No one cared about Trinis replacement. In the end I think he could have come close to filling Jason's shoes but he still would not have been as good as Jason be he would be liked and respected unlike Rocky who screwed up the red ranger image and helped give Tommy the God modded Ranger a big head.
