This RPG will be Co-Run by myself and Titanium Ranger.

Year: 2008

Setting: New York City

Story: Shortly after the new Xavier institute for mutants was opening in New York, everything appeared to be back to normal again. Soon after all the students returned to the school, the Government passed a law that all mutants were to be captured and locked away. However Charles Xavier fought back, and tried to convince the law passers to let his school run as normal. But they did not allow it, and soon all the mutants at the school were taken away. Now with only the last of the X-Men still at the school, it would be up to them to find out where the other mutants were taken and rescue them. However, word of Xavier's movements reached the government and they ordered the school to be destroyed, just incase they were to try and recruit more mutants. When the final order was given for the air strike to wipe out the school, Xavier and a few other members of the X-Men were inside, unaware of what was about to happen. When the bombs hit, the school and everyone left inside it were wiped out...Or were they?

Two years later, mutants were still being hunted down and put away. There were some that managed to remain hidden and blend in with the humans. Inside of the holding tower, where all the mutants were being held, Magneto's grandson, Wiccan broke into the building and escaped with a large group of powerful mutants who took him up on his offer to destroy the government. After they reached the safety of the city, they went into hiding and started to plan their battle against the army, and everything else that would try and get in their way. Over the next few months, Wiccan started to send out a few of his followers in order to recruit other mutants who were willing to follow him and obey his orders. After all, almost all of his followers were only with him because they feared the humans. Most of them had never used their powers against others, and never wanted to. But they decided that they were going to help, to put a stop to the pain that the government were causing them.

In 2007, a new law was passed that all mutants were required to register. When they were put through tests, and written examinations, they were tagged with special devices that allowed the government to track everything that they did. It also told them what they were able to do. A lot of mutants refused to register, and soon they were forced to. When the registry came to New York, the world for mutants took a turn that many never wanted it to turn to. When it was almost over, Wiccan and his followers attacked the building, killing everything that got in their way, even mutants. When they were leaving, they met someone they least expected. Charles Xavier was staring at them with anger for what they had just done. Every mutant knew that Charles had died on the day the school was destroyed, but what they didn't know was that he had encased himself in a psychic barrier, shielding himself from the explosion. Xavier tried to get Wiccan to stop what he was doing, but Wiccan wouldn't listen. Instead he attacked Xavier with all of his abilities. Even though Xavier fought back with his telepathy, he was no match for Wiccan. After the fight, Wiccan absorbed Xavier's power and continued his operation.

Now 2008, Wiccan's army has finally reached it's maximum potential. With a little less of an army now following him, Wiccan has finally started his attack against the government and the humans. The only living survivor of the Xavier's school was Emma Frost. However, she is in the mutants holding tower and has had her powers contained by the new neck devices that the scientists had created to capture other mutants with. With only some of her telepathy power still intact, she uses the last of it to reach the minds of other mutants who are willing to fight against Wiccan and his army in order to protect the humans and the world. With such little time left before the war starts, will Emma Frost be able to recruit a team of mutants that will risk their lives for the humans? And will Wiccan's power grow even stronger as he continues to absorb the most powerful mutant abilities? Find out in X-Men: Mutation of Evolution!

First of all, myself and TR would like to welcome you all to the Game. We hope you enjoy the things we've got planned out and thanks for applying to be apart of the RPG.

Setting: New York City
December 12th

What to do: Today is just another normal Monday morning. It's 8:30 am so everyone is to get ready for school and then head there and if you feel like, socialize with the other members of the cast. Then me and TR will place instructions in the Discussion Thread when we are ready to move onto the next step. The school isn't just a normal school, it has a course centre so if your character isn't in education anymore and is working, they can be at the school attending a course for their job.

Laying perfectly still and outstretched in the bed, a sudden outburst of the alarm clock filled the room and Leon's right eye opened slightly to see what time it was. ''Already? Last night sure went by quickly'' He sighed, turning over in his bed to face the other way from the alarm clock. But it was one of the clocks that doesn't shutup until you get out of bed and turn it off. Monday's were by far Leon's least favorite day. Over the weekend, he had tons of homework to get completed by today, and he had hardly any time to enjoy the nice weather that New York had been having lately. Another attempt from the alarm clock to wake him up, and he had enough. ''Ok ok, I'm up!'' He said as he got out of bed and hit the button on top of the clock to turn the annoying sound off. He grabbed the clothes that were on the chair next to his desk that he had already put out for today. A quick stare in his mirror and then he headed for the bath room. ''My hair sure does take a beating in the nights'' he joked, looking at his hair in the mirror inside the bath room.

He pointed his finger at the shower door as he stepped in and then pulled his finger back. The door shut behind him, using his telekinesis ability to be lazy and shut the door for him. He turned on the shower and the luke warm water started to pour all over him. It was a nice, refreshing feeling to take a shower in the morning. After a rough night of not getting much sleep, the water would pretty much wake him up and get him ready for the day ahead. After drying himself, he styled his hair with gel into the mohican style that he loved so much. Then quickly putting on some aftershave and slipping on his clothes, he headed downstairs to get some breakfast. His parents had already left for work, so it was quiet in the house. But it was always nice to have a piece of silence before school. He placed two pieces of bread into the toaster and then when it popped, he buttered it and sat down by the wooden table in the center of their kitchen. Picking up the TV remote from the table, he flicked through the channels as he finished off his toast. ''Same old stories...Nothing ever changes'' He spoke as stories about mutant attacks showed up on every single channel.

After he washed the few dishes that were in the sink from last night and this morning, Leon collected his backpack from the cupboard under the stairs and then made his way out of the house, locking the door as he went. It was still fairly early for school, but Leon always wanted to get the day over with as fast as he could so he made his way down the street towards the bus station. There wasn't anyone there when he arrived, but that was always a good thing because he could just pull out a book and read in peace. Reaching into his bag, he pulled out the book he had been reading for the past few days. ''Eclipse'' was one of the best books he had ever read, other than the first two of the Twilight series. He could at sometimes compare himself to what Edward would've felt like at sometimes in the story. He was different to everyone else, apart from a few others. Of course, Edward didn't have abilities like mutants do, but he did have some super human powers. So in some ways, Leon found comfort in reading these sort of books.

When the bus finally arrived five minutes later, he put the book back into the side pocket of his bag and stepped up onto the bus. He purchased his ticket to the bus stop not far from his school and then took a seat at the back of the bus. A few eyes turned his way each moment that passed. Do they know what I am? He wondered. Then he turned his head to look out the window, ignoring the mysterious looks that the others on the bus gave him. The bus finally reached his stop, and he couldn't have gotten off any faster than he did. ''Stupid people...'' He sighed and turned to face the school gate. By now, other students had already started to arrive, so he made his way into the school grounds. Each and every day that he appeared at school, he felt that it was the wrong thing for him to do. But with the mutant registration and mutants with level 3 or higher abilities were being captured and put into the holding tower, he wanted to try and blend in with the humans as best he could.

Carson Palmer

"Good Morning sunshine!" A bright cheery female voice protruded the peaceful dreams of a sleeping blonde. Carson grunted angrily at the voice who'd interrupted her sleep and randomly threw her arm out to hit the offending person. Laughing brightly as she jumped out of the way, the dark skinned girl got another shot at her roommate's arm before leaving the room. "Carson you have class in an hour, if you don't show up again you'll get fired. I'm leaving, so you'd better get up!" Her voice carried through their apartment as she left it, a resounding thud signaling to the sleepy blonde that it was safe to move again. Muttering all the swear words she knew at her roommate and tried to throw the covers off of her warm body. But she didn't find any. Finally opening her eyes, Carson surveyed her bed and realized she'd thrown off all of her covers again, due to overheating.

"Not again." She muttered, sliding off of her bed to scoop up all of her sheets to throw them on her bed. Dressed only in a pair of underwear and a camisole, Carson wandered to the window and glanced out in time to see soft downy flakes of snow falling to the ground. She smiled and touched her skin, it was cool, too cool. Swearing at her lack of body temperature awareness, she quickly grabbed her things and went straight to the bathroom for her shower. After a warm shower -she only knew that by the dials on the faucet- Carson dressed in a pair of black corduroy pants and a red sweater that clung nicely to her body, and scooping down to reveal a red pendant around her neck, resting on her soft white skin. A pair of black converse completed her clothing and ten minutes with her make-up kit had her looking better than she had when she'd woken up.

Tossing her blond locks over her shoulder, Carson tossed on a black leather jacket before grabbing a messenger bag and out of the apartment. Whistling as she walked down the streets of the city, Carson was quite warm in what little she was wearing opposed to the hundreds of other people who were bundled against the frigid December air. Carson had always liked winter, especially the cool air and skating, but had gotten frostbite three times from failure to realize that her body was too cold. She stopped at a vendor on the street for a cup of black magic to wake her up, coffee. While the man added her sugar and cream she caught a glance across the street of a pair of homeless men trying to light a fire in a garbage can. Narrowing her eyes Carson felt heat rise up through her body as she focused on the papers inside the can that burst into flame after a moment. The two men stared at it in awe as Carson walked away, grinning as they started to praise God for their fortune.

Kyan Walker

A tall figure turned in bed to lie on his other side, causing a ripping sound to break the silence. Dark green eyes shot open in an instant, immediately half closing again in irritation. Kyan Walker brought his arm up, causing more of the same ripping sound. A gray serrated protrusion jutted out of his wrist, almost as if he had been stabbed there. But to him it was natural. He noticed the skin around it was gray as well, which could delude someone into thinking his wrist was dead. He sighed and cursed under his breath, focusing on his power to calm the gray element back into his skin. It shifted slowly, dissolving as if something had been thrown in the water.

Kyan shut his eyes again but found that he couldn’t sleep again. It had been happening a lot lately, and it irritated him. Not only was it annoying to not get those extra minutes of sleep, but it also meant loss of valuable bed sheets, which he sure as hell would have to shop for yet again. Pulling the tattered plain blue sheet off his wrist, Kyan surveyed the damage. Just that one tear so far. Well, it wasn’t like MTV was parading into his dingy apartment anytime soon anyways. Kyan left the sheet as it was and swung his legs over the edge. He made his way to the bathroom but he was so sleepy he didn’t realize he was actually floating till he hit his head on the top edge of the door, which he was prone to nearly every morning.

Kyan stripped out of his boxers and stepped into the shower cabin, turning on the warm water. He took his time in the shower till he felt properly washed up. He exited within minutes and lightly sprayed himself with an Axe body spray. He found himself a plain white T-shirt and blue jeans. A black and gray jacket with the front part left open completed the attire and Kyan quickly headed out his apartment, locking it securely behind him. He walked the few paces to the Starbucks at the end of his street, ordering a blueberry muffin and a café latte. Kyan made short work of his breakfast, feeling refreshed and ready to deal with the new day.

A few minutes later, Kyan entered the school, walking by the parking lot. He watched in minor amusement the students already entering in their respective cars, competing for a convenient parking spot. Once he was inside, he spotted a familiar person sitting on a bench, holding an all too familiar book in his hands. He walked over with a grin on his face and lightly tapped the book. “You’re still a part of that cult?” That’s the term Kyan used for the Twilight series. The books were good, but it was so common these days it was sort of weird, to him at least. “I thought you’d have moved on already… can’t your super-powered mind finish the book already?” he joked in a relatively low voice so that they wouldn’t be overheard. He noticed a girl walking by, staring at him like she usually did. He sometimes wondered if she knew of his secret, the way she seemed to look through him. Or maybe she was just a freak. He smiled in return but politely turned his head to face Leon again.

“So what’s new for today? Was it Iron Man or Solar Girl this time?” he asked, referring to the recent mutant attacks. It was the way he’d named the mutants he could actually remember along the line of their powers.

Kevin Montgomery

Beep...beep...beep....BEEP...BEEP...BBBBEEEEEPPPP "Oh MY GOD I"m up already!" Kevin yelled as he flung a pillow from his bed and drilled his alarm clock. It was one that never shut off and just kept getting louder and louder until you got up and turned it off yourself. He flung his feet over his bed so they were touching the floor and he rested his head in his hands as he tried to gather his thoughts and steady himself before standing up. Once he steadied himself, he stood up and stretched and reached his arms up to the ceiling as he cracked his neck from side to side to. He then shook his head and shook his arms and tried to get himself loose for the up coming day. He then strolled towards the bathroom and once inside he flipped on the water. He then stripped down to his birthday suit and jumped into the shower. He almost lost track of time as he let the water run over him like a water fall cleansing him of all his worries for at least a half hour or so. Once he was done washing himself he stepped out and almost slipped on the wet floor and grabbed onto the sink to catch himself, he shook his head as he dried his body and flung his towel into the laundry pile. Kevin then exited the bathroom and began rummaging through his cloths to try and find something to wear.

"No...no....not a chance in hell" *he said a she flung a shirt into the trash, Kevin then pulled our a black shirt with white writing on it, the writing said in bold white print "Duct Tape Specialist" he laughed as he pulled it on and then found a pair of black and red boxers and pulled them on as well then went back into the bath room and put on some deodorant and brushed his teeth and gelled up his hair. He then pulled on a silver bracelet that had the engravings of a phoenix on it. It was an important piece to his attire, it was something he got from his friend Ashley a few years back. It symbolised that no matter what you have to keep rising form the ashes no matter how bad it looks, or what kind of situation you were in. Once he was finished in the bathroom he walked into his bedroom again and found a pair of jeans in his closest and pulled them on. After a quick look in the mirror he was off, racing down the stairs and flying out the door to catch the bus, which he missed yet again. "Damn it..." he said to himself as he straighted his back and started walking towards the New York City high school. Before he got to the school and stopped and got a strawberry smoothie from a local coffee shop and was back on the road again.

He arrived at the school just in the nick of time, the only reason he wanted to take the bus is because he hates walking and would do anything in the world to get out of it...some call him lazy but he refers to himself as a person who works smarter not harder. He smiled a she noticed Ashley was at the front steps with the rest of her friends, he made his way over to the spot where they hung out and joined the group. "Hey guys" Kevin said as he got a smile or a pat on the back or a high five form his friends. "Man I hope today goes smooth...I hate Mondays." *He said as he saw one of his other friends Leon make his way into the school. He wasn't sure if he would see him or not so he just joined back into the conversation with his friends. "You guys are so not right...if anyone could beat the hulk it would be Thor...I mean he is just a raged filled moron...you could out think him" *He stated as he and his friends walked into the school*

Carley Michaels

Carley twitched as the alarm sounded, the dull beep, beep, beep echoing through the apartment. She ran a tired hand through her hair. This was the fifth night in a row that she had been unable to sleep. Usually able to curb this one side of her feral abilities, Carley had slowly been returning to her old nocturnal ways. She could hear Jeremy and Claire stirring in the other room, hear the subtle shifting of thier bodies, the quiet yawns that escaped their mouths. The sounds of the apartment mingled with those of the city just coming out of its stupor. Carley had sat perched by the window all night, watching and listening to the city life. With a yawn, Carley stood and stretched, her back arching and muscles rippling like a cat that just woke from a nap. Only Carley had not slept and now she had to get her brother and sister ready for the day and head off to school.

"Carley," Claire's sleep filled voice calld from the back of the apartment. "Carley, the water's not working."

Carley sighed. She hadn't been able to pay the water bill this month. Though their parents had left the siblings a considerable inheritence, New York was an expensive city and they had had to skrimp and save where ever possible. Their money was running low, but Carley had been unable to hold down a job and thus was forced to jump from minimum wage job to minimum wage job.

She helped her siblings get ready for school, using bottled water to help get their faces washed and teeth brushed. Once everyone was ready, Carley grabbed all three of their bags, putting the two backpacks on her siblings and throwing her own bag over her shoulder. She walked the two to school, kissed them and reminded them that she would be going straight to work after school so Mrs. Carson, their neighbor, would pick them up and watch them until Carley got home.

Making her way down the one block that seperated the elementary school from the high school, Carley tried to keep her feral side in check. She hated being trapped inside those walls. Had her life been normal, Carley would already be in college, but as it was, she was only a junior in high school. Not going to school for...how many years had she been on the run? Well it was no matter, if Carley wanted a better life for her brother, sister, and herself, she needed to suffer through school and do what she could. Thankfully, Carley was smart and able to work her way easily through the classes. If only she were able to concentrate while she was actually in the school. The close walls and all the bodies crammed into one space, they made Carley want to run for the hills so that she could breathe in fresh, clean air. But she had no options. School was the only way to better their life.

Walking through the doors, a rock-headed jock deliberately slammed into Carley, causing her bag to fall from her shoulder. A low growl eminated from low in Carley's throat. Her eyes flashed gold as the jock walked away, laughing with his lunk-head friends.

NO! Carley's mind screamed. Get a hold of yourself! She squeezed her eyes shut and shook her head, trying to gain control. Exhaling slowly, Carley felt the control return. She opened her eyes and glanced around, hoping nobody had seen what happend.

Leon Julian Young

The crowds inside the school grounds started to slowly come together. It was still pretty early, but Leon had never been here this time so he was surprised by how many people actually came this early to school. Once he walked passed the main gates so he was close by the main entrance into the building, he looked around to see if he could notice a few of his friends hiden in the crowd. There wasn't many people he talked to at the school, but the first face he did know was Kevin's. He was blending in with a few of his friends, and Leon wasn't one to walk up and interfere their conversation. Besides, he looked like he was pretty much happy where he was so Leon didn't want to drag him away. Instead, he just lifted up his hand and gave a slight wave in Kevin's direction, to let him know that he was in school today.

He turned in the other direction and spotted a bench empty under the shade of a few trees. He always enjoyed reading out of the sun because it would normally make seeing the words that little bit more harder with to much light on it. He wiped the bench off first before sitting down because there were quite a few fallen leaves on it. It would always happen this time of year. The seeds that they would plant for these trees were always shipped over from Europe so they were pretty rare in New York. Reaching into his bag and then pulling out his book that he had been reading most of the way to school, he started to flick through the pages trying to figure out exactly what page he left off on. When he'd finally caught the page he was looking for, he heard a voice coming from infront of him. He lifted his head and smiled in reply to Kyan's comment on his book. ''I enjoy these sort of books. I'm barely reading now days so I thought I'd take a few days to catch up on my reading.''

He closed the book, but made sure this time that he remembered what page he was on. After placing it back in his bag, he zipped it up. ''Just because my ability in based from brain power, doesn't mean I have to be smart and a quick read'' Leon grinned. He and Kyan knew about each other's powers. They had known for quite a while, ever since they met at the school. It was uncommon in this school for mutants to be around. But they both knew there were some mutants hanging around this place. He turned his head to the side and stared at Kevin. He was another mutant at the school, but he was pretty open about his ability to others like him at the school. He returned to look at Kyan who had just questioned him about today's mutant attacks on the news. ''To be honest, it's really getting out of hand. People are starting to go out and capture mutants themselves so that they can lock them up in the holding tower. More humans are dieing while resisting against the mutants that are using their abilities for greed. I'd rather not think about it, but it's hard not to...'' He sighed.

Nikki Swan

Lay across the couch, sound asleep in clothes that would say she was out partying all night long, Nikki rolled over onto her ride side. Then with a crash, she fell to the floor only just missing the edge of the glass coffee table on her way. Her hands clawed out infront of her, scratching on the hardwood flooring before Nikki groaned " A first for everything" She sighed before lifting herself up into a sitting position with her back against the couch. With her eyes remaining closed, her nose wrinkled as if she smelt something terrible " Blood" she opened her eyes and gazed at her hands. They were indeed stained with blood, she had claimed another life during the night. The realization hit her like usual, her hands shook and her eyes began to tear " What have I done?" she spoke in a whisper, something that her ears rarely heard and then gulped hard. For half of a minute the real Nikki had the chance to break through and express her emotions, until the darkness consumed her and an evil smirk appeared on her face " B*tch deserved it". Clapping her hands in success Nikki jumped up and headed for her room, seeing as even though she was apart of Wiccan's group, she had her own life and needed her space.

Following her routine, one that now Wiccan made absolutely sure Nikki stuck with, she turned towards her closet. Lacking in any motivation to actually open the doors with her hands, Nikki waved her palm and then proceeded to duck as the door broke from it's hinges and flew past her. Standing back up, Nikki turned slightly to see the damage the door had made " Ah another dent in the wall, so artistic I don't know how I manage it" A childish laugh echoed through the room whilst Nikki scanned through the many items of clothing. Each item was sealed in a white bag, mostly for preservation and tagged. She pulled across over half of the hangers to one side and picked one of the bags out, tossing it over her right arm " Shower time". She spent quite a while in the shower, washing off every trace of blood along with the smell. If there was any mutant she came across who had heightened senses, she would be rumbled within a second. Finishing up in the shower, Nikki reached out and pulled the white towel from the rail, wrapping it around her body and then stepping out. She stopped infront of the steam covered mirror and wiped her hand over it just enough so she could see her reflection whilst she brushed her teeth.

After coming back from the bathroom, the first thing Nikki had to do was fix her hair. This was something she hated doing, taking out either hair pieces from her drawers, hair extensions or just choosing one of her many wigs seemed to take forever. There was no way she would look like a simple girl with her spiky hair do so after she blow dried that and straightened it into a sleek style, she chose her hair extensions and clipped them into place, leaving her with dark locks that reached just below her shoulders. Nikki quickly changed into a pair of black jeans, a grey polo kneck top and her black ugg boots" I hate this part of my job" Nikki looked over her outfit in the floor length mirror, twisting and turning to see herself from every angle and followed up with a look of disgust " Not an ounce of evil in this!" She stomped her foot and crossed her arms, this is the path she had to go down....go to the New York High School. Attending the school was the only way to figure out how many mutans were blending in. Thankfully for her, Wiccan was not the slightest bit aware of her intentions for the day, no one actually knowing she was going to pose as a student. Before leaving her apartment, she grabbed hold of her long pale blue knitwear cardigan and a white shoulder bag to complete her student look. Slamming the door behind her, Nikki made the two block walk to the school. The winter weather never bothered Nikki, nor did any weather condition come to think of it. She was unusually happy to walk in the rain and the snow from time to time, anything to distract her from her nightly plans. During the walk no one payed attention to Nikki, they all went about their day and that's how Nikki preffered things.

It wasn't long until Nikki reached the school gates, hanging back whilst the school buses passed her and students started to walk past her. She listened to them as they made comments about her, referring to her as the new girl in school. All Nikki could do was smile to herself, she was already fooling everyone. Taking in a deep breath, her only way to control herself and keep her abilities at bay, Nikki walked through the gates and made her way pass the crowds of students nearer to the main building.

Paul Matthew Evans

Paul sighed irritably as he heard the sound of his alarm going off. He focused his powers on the clock and lowered the temperature until it froze, but more importantly, until it stopped making noise. He rolled over onto his stomach and threw the blankets over his head, refusing to make himself get up.

"Paul?" His mom called quietly as she stepped into his room. She sighed when she saw him still in bed. "You're going to be late for school." She looked around the room and noticed his window was sitting wide open. "No wonder it's so cold in the house." She said angrily as she walked over and slammed the window closed. "Why on earth... did you sneak out again?"

"No" Paul lied.

"Paul, what happened to trying something different?"

"It got old." He replied sarcastically.

"Fine," She irritably turned and walked out the door. "Miss another day of school."

Paul groaned and turned onto his back, swearing under his breath. He slowly climbed out of bed, ignoring the frigged air, and headed downstairs to the bathroom. He turned on the water, not bothering to check if he had it set on hot or cold, and climbed in. He'd barely been inside for 5 minutes when he was already getting out. Instead of grabbing a towel he concentrated his powers on his own body and let the temperature soar, until all the water on his body evaporated. He wrapped a towel around himself and ran back upstairs and got dressed in the first thing he saw. Jeans, a t-shirt and his old sneakers.

Without bothering to grab his coat, which he would probably forget at school anyway at the end of the day, he grabbed his backpack and headed out the door. He started walking toward the school, which was no more then a block away. People gave him strange looks as he walked by, probably wondering why he wasn't wearing a coat. He ignored the looks, just like he ignored everything else, and kept on his way. He passed all the kids that were socializing outside before class and headed straight for his locker. When he opened it he saw his coat inside and shook his head with a slight smile.

Suddenly a couple of the football jocks came storming into the school, pushing a bunch of kids out of the way. One slammed right into one girl, knocking off her backpack. Paul narrowed his eyes at the ego-inflated, small minded jerks. He concentrated on a piece of floor that the jocks were headed for, and lowered the temperature until the water particles in the air froze to it, leaving a patch of ice. Most of them, not all of them, but at least the one that had knocked into the girl, slipped on the ice. A bunch of the kids in the hall started laughing and Paul smirked victoriously.

He looked at the girl who had been hit. He hesitated at first, but then decided to go over. She was older then him, he could tell. In fact she didn't even look like she should still be in high school, but he wasn't going to let that stop him. He picked up her bag and handed it back to her, giving her a crooked smile. "Don't worry," he told her, "they only pick on you cause they know they'd never have a chance in hell with someone so beautiful."

"Don't worry," he told her, "they only pick on you cause they know they'd never have a chance in hell with someone so beautiful."

Carley Michaels

A boy held her pack out to her. Carley looked at him briefly before quickly taking the pack and slinging it back over her shoulder.

"Thanks," she said tersley before quickly heading to her locker.

Crowds of people had always made Carley uncomfortable and high school was no different. Though she was only a few years older than the average student, Carley felt so much older because of her life. Seventeen and eighteen year olds were like toddlers compared to Carley's ancient mentality. She was so tired of acting like everything was fine when, in reality, she could snap at any moment and be completely lost inside her abilities.

She was not the only mutant in the school. Her strong sense of smell could pick up the subtle differences in the smell of humans and mutants, but that was as far as her sense of detection could go. Carley knew that at any moment any one of the other mutants in school could lose control of their powers, but many of them had been studying and practicing control.

But how could one control something which one was afraid of? Carley's abilities frightend her. The thought of going deep inside her mind so as to learn control scared the hell out of her. What if she never came back? What if she was lost forever within the recesses of her mind? She had gotten lost there once, and it was only through the sheer force of her will that she had ever come back. What if she wasn't so lucky the next time?

Too many thoughts ran through Carley's mind as she rummaged through her locker, searching for the books she needed for her classes that morning. Running a weary hand through her hair, Carley sighed and slammed her locker shut.

Kyan Walker

“Hmm, yeah they’re good but vamps ain’t got nothing on us.” Kyan smirked, deliberately using a made-up macho accent when he said this line. He could get carried away with that sometimes. “Hmm true that, but we need to start thinking on our feet man.” Kyan said. He saw Kevin nearby and nodded in his direction. He was someone who could be useful for the squad. He heard Leon’s comments and nodded before turning to face the guy. The conversation usually dragged down the mood like this, but Kyan couldn’t help but want to stay updated with the human world.

“Yeah I know what you mean,” Kyan admitted. “I mean, we have innocent people on both sides.. it’s like a freakin’ war is right around the corner.” He said, fiddling out his keys from his pockets and twirling them around his finger just for the sake of something to do. He watched the ‘school cat’, a resident brown and white little creature, prowl around the benches. It was just there in the school though she didn’t belong to anyone, but was still just about as civilized as the students; maybe even more than some. He looked ahead at the students entering through the gates.

“We were probably given these abilities for a reason. I want to help people, be it mutant or not. But we can’t do it alone…. I heard there’s a big freak on the loose with quite an army.” Kyan mused, but then to lighten up the subject, ribbed Leon lightly in the guts. “We’re an awesome team on our own though,” he smirked. “So for now, I guess we ‘enjoy’ school… I just hope that idiot doesn’t ring the bell sooner than it’s supposed to.” He added, pocketing the keys he had been twirling around. His eyes scanned the various students around him but never stayed on one person longer than a second or two. He didn’t want to give anyone the impression that he was staring at them.

Carson Palmer

Carson sipped her coffee gratefully as she walked down the street. After a second her mouth began to feel weird, like... she'd burned it. Again. Swearing under her breath, she threw her coffee away. She couldn't feel the burn on her mouth or tongue, but she knew it was there, and that was annoying. Carson grabbed the strap on her messenger back and slipped through a crack in the shrubbery and into the courtyard of the school. Carson preferred to use the small side entrance to the main one, just a weird personality quirk that she couldn't help and didn't mind. Slipping through the buildings and over to her class, Carson slid in the building carefully.

"Hey there." A deep male voice said from the corner of the room. Carson looked over at him and raised her eyebrows. A rather good looking guy from her business class had spoken to her with the cocky arrogance of a former jock. She casually brushed the snow out of her hair and smiled warmly at him, the slight sneer invisible to the shocked guy. "You're Carson, right?" He asked, his words slurring together. Carson fought back laughter. Only here would someone be drunk this early in the morning.

"Yes that's my name." She flashed her eyes at him, and he stumbled back a step. He'd seen them turn red in that one instant, but they were now back to blue. He did several double takes before writing it off as a drunken delusion. So he continued with his brave attempt at asking her out.

"Would you like to hang out with me?" He slurred with a grin, trying to show off to the several students who had gathered around them. "You and me babe." Carson's eyes raised as he threw his arm around her neck, and brought his face disgustingly close to hers to that she could smell the alcohol. Lifting her head, Carson breathed out on his face as soft as she could, and he reeled back as an almost invisible flame almost touched his lips.

"I think I'll have to pass." She snarled seductively. Tucking her blonde hair behind her head, Carson went from the waiting room to the actual classroom and sat in her chair with a successful smile on her face. Today was going pretty well for once, her powers were under control, and despite a few temperature mishaps, she was doing pretty well with surviving, although her little show may have made blending in a little harder.

Carley Michaels

A boy held her pack out to her. Carley looked at him briefly before quickly taking the pack and slinging it back over her shoulder.

"Thanks," she said tersely before quickly heading to her locker.

The girl hurriedly grabbed her bag and walked off, barely giving Paul a first glance. "You're welcome." Paul said uselessly, doubting she even heard him. He sighed as he turned and watched her turn the corner and disappear into the crowed of kids. "The story of my life." Though her abruptness did make him wonder. He'd been going to this school for almost two months now and so he was well past the "new student" phase. Maybe she was new too? Paul didn't really know, he never payed that much attention. Or maybe she was a mutant. He knew there were other mutants in this school but he had never met any. He had his suspicions but he didn't know for sure. He thought he'd seen her eyes go all freaky for a second but that could just be him.

All of a sudden a couple of kids pushed him as they walked past and he heard one of them say "God, why do people stand right in the middle of the hall?"

Paul just rolled his eyes and started walking toward class but stopped a couple lockers away from the door. He usually skipped first period, and he'd been absent to first class so much already the teacher, Paul didn't even know his name, didn't bother giving him detentions anymore, as if Paul went to those either. But after the little spat with his mom this morning he figured he might as well stick it out, at least for today.

"Well, look who decided to show up today." The teacher said as Paul came in and took a seat at the back of the room.

"What's up?" Paul said nonchalantly.

"Oh, just a test." The teacher replied, obviously trying to scare him. "Hope you studied."

"Oh, yeah. All night." Paul just stared back at him as he slid down in the desk, already getting bored.

*Kevin*

Kevin sat down at his desk and pulled out his note book and scribbled down somethings that the teacher was saying before drifting off into daydream land. He was bored out of his mind he was a fairly smart kid and didn't really have to try in school...it was a gift more so then his mutant power. He hated studying and would much rather be playing world of war craft or some other role playing game. He then felt weird as the hairs on the back of his neck stood up so he quickly ducked down as if acting to tie his shoe and a spite wad flung over his head and smacked the teacher right in the back of the head. Kevin could hardly hold in his laughter as the kid who shot the spite wad turned as white as a ghost. The teacher ordered the kid to the school's office to see the principle. The teacher left with him to make sure he went there. "Ha...what an oaf..." Kevin said to himself as he looked at his note book and began writing and drawing random things...and soon the bell rang and he was out of his chair before it finished and was outside the class room.

As he entered the hallway he saw Kyan chatting with one of his friend he nodded in his direction along with a small wave. He then made his way to his locker and opened it up and put his books inside he then was tapped on the shoulder and it was Ashley, who had a locker right next to his.

"Hey, Ash...you don't happen to have another pen on you? I think I used all the ink in mine." Kevin asked as he pulled out a new note book from his locker.

"Sure, I swear your the only kid I know who goes through as many pens as I buy new shoes in a week....but I gotta run...have to get to class" Ashley said and was off just as quickly as she arrived.

"Yea...uhh sure...see you later" *Kevin said waving his hand as he shut his locker door. He then turned around and stopped and stared at everyone in the halls. He then played game with himself...well in his mind he would pick out someone and decide if they were a mutant or human.

"Mutant.....*he then saw a big jock walk by* Dumb human..." He said as he scribbled it down in his note book and walked down the halls. He then paused and thought to himself* "I wonder how many mutants are in this building..." Kevin said to no one but himself.

Nikki Swan

Standing there in the cold, Nikki's eyes darted around the school grounds, searching for those she could easily pick out as mutants. She would know from the way they dressed, how the moved around, the way they interacted with others and their own shifty looks. Instantly Nikki spotted several them and making a mental note, she dropped her search for now and headed through the main entrance doors. From the glances that came from the other students, she gathered they knew she was a new student so following the natural order, Nikki headed to the reception desk to gather her class list. Standing there waiting for forms that she would need to fill in and sign, Nikki drummed her fingers on the wooden surface impatiently, scratching it with her fingernails whilst she tried to control her anger at the receptionists lack of organisation. Usuaully if her temper flared from the smallest human things, Nikki tended to start toying with her abilities but right now she needed to stay calm. With a huff once finishing the forms, Nikki grabbed her bag and tugged onto the strap, nearly tearing it in half just with her grip and stormed through the doors out in the hallway.

She stopped in her tracks when several students turned to look at her, slamming doors was only common with new students. Dropping her eyes to her class list and school map, Nikki tried to act casual and quietly read allowed some of her teachers names " Lorenzo, professor of Biology....Cooper, Calculus...Kensington, Phys.Ed" Nikki rolled her eyes and kept her pieces of paper to hand before walking slowly down the hall.
"Alright wheres this locker I so greatly own and should be completely thankful for?" She questioned to herself, searching along the line of lockers and scanning the numbers on the doors until she reached hers. Double checking the number on the door and that on the paper, she was actually thankful she didn't have to one on the bottom half, therefor no being trampled on. Twisting the dial back and forth to corrospond with her locker combination, Nikki tugged on the door handle and flung the door open, bashing it against another but shrugging it off. Taking off her bag, she took the strap and hung it onto one of the hooks, then slid off her coat and hung that up inside aswell, there was basically no need for it now anyway and she wasn't too fond of having to carry it around with her all day. Closing the locker door, Nikki noticed the lack of students around her and her eyes flicked up to the clock, the first class was just about to come to an end, she had missed it but looking at her list knew she wouldn't have missed anything, her first class would have been PE anyway.

The bell than sounded, the first class ending and hundreds of students pushing their way through the crowds and into the hallways. With any luck some of those lame humans with drop dead on the spot within the next five seconds Nikki thought to herself, unfortunately nothing happened and she resulted in a heavy sigh of disappointment. Making her way down the hallway herself to her next class, Nikki caught sight of one student just stood there scribbling in a note book. She stopped for a second and watched how he acted, she noticed how he took one look at someone and then made a note " What is he upto?" Being the nosey girl she has always been, Nikki bit down on her lower lip and contemplated whether or not to make conversation with him. After debating with herself, Nikki chose a subtle way in order for her to strike up a conversation with him. Turning around on her heels, she walked backwards " I'll catch you later then!" She called out to know one before her plan worked. She knocked into him, causing his notebook to fall from his hands and drop to the floor. Smirking to herself for a second and then dropping it, Nikki quickly spun around " I am so sorry! Here let me help you" Bending down, Nikki picked up the book and handed it back. " I used to be the clumbsiest girl at my old school" Giving a warm smile up at Kevin, now knowing his name after reading it on the book " I'm Nikki Swan".

Carley Michaels

Carley filed out of her first class, trying not to get lost in the rush of students. Growling low in her throat as someone stepped on her foot, Carley forced her way through the crowd. Her next class was biology, which actually turned out to be one of her favorite classes. She actually understood it and felt that the subject was relevent, unlike other classes she was forced to take...like P.E.

Carley wrinkled her nose as a foul smell invaded her senses. Carley coughed on the scent. She sniffed the air, trying to decipher where it was coming from. It was not a regular scent, but rather an emotion so powerful that it transformed into something almost tangible. Hatred and anger and rage all rolled into one giant ball. Carley's nose wrinkled as she sniffed the air again, following the scent. Down the hall she saw a girl and guy talking, they were both mutatns, Carley could smell the difference in their scents as opposed to the humans around them. The bad smell was coming from one of them, but which one? Her eyes flashing gold, Carley shook her head. This was not her problem.

Pushing her bag back up her shoulder, Carley turned the other direction and made her way to Biology.

*He was minding his own business as he turned around to catch sight of some of the people around him. He was still bored enough that he was playing his own little weird game...or well he was until someone plowed into the back of him like a freight train. He stumbled forwards and the note book flew from his hands and skidded on the ground before him. He stood up and shook his head to regain his sense of direction and his eyes narrowed as he tried to figure out who the culprit was. He then heard the voice of a female ringing in his ears. So he turned and looked at her with a strange look on his face.

"Ummm...thanks" *he said taking the notebook from her hands and closing it and switching it to another hand. "Nice to meet you Miss Swan" *he said as he held his hand out for her to shake*

"My Name is Kevin Montgomery, and no big deal about bumping into me...I'm sure you were the clumsiest girl in your old school" he said with a small smile as it was a rare day indeed when a girl in this school would talk to him. "So your new here I take it?"

Wiccan

With his head placed in his hands, Wiccan sat on his 'throne' inside his base, which was unground in an old unused train station. They had quite the home for his army. Throughout the whole of New York, his followers had their own little hide away with their group. There, they would await Wiccan's orders and then swiftly move out to complete the mission with ease. For a while now, making humans fear him and his army was enough to satisfy him and make him happy. However...Just knowing that there were people out there who would dare stand against him made him worry. He knew that there were strong mutants other than himself, living in New York and who wasn't one of his followers. His goal was to find them, and recruit them into his army so that they wouldn't go against him.

He lifted his head up from his hands as the door into the room opened with force. A small group of SWAT members had blasted down the door and charged in to try and stop him. A few other mutants in the room stood up to attack them, but Wiccan started to laugh and then stood up from his throne and stepped down onto the floor. ''Well, what are ya waiting for?'' He questioned the SWAT team. ''Open fire!'' the captain said and then they fired everything they had at Wiccan. Of course, this was just a walk in the park for him. He had taken on Charles Xavier and nothing less of a level 4 mutant could even hope to get close to him, yet a lone touch him. Raising his hand up infront of him, a barrier of energy formed a force field around him, causing the bullets to reflect back at the SWAT team. Within a few moments everything went silent, and the last member of the team trying to crawl back out of the door to escape from Wiccan.

As he reached the outside of the underground base, Wiccan caught up to him by teleporting infront and stepping down strongly on the mans head, causing him to yell in pain. ''Shouldn't you people know by now that nothing you try can defeat me?'' Wiccan said and then took his foot off the mans head. The officer gave no reply and then got to his feet and ran off. But then, the man came to a sudden stop when Wiccan shot a high voltage blast of lightning straight through the mans heart, making his heart stop completely. ''Fool...'' Wiccan smirked as he turned around and headed back into his throne room. With a small gathering of his followers, he turned to them with a dark look on his face. ''It's time that we got more of our brothers out of that tower...Don't you think?'' he grinned. Sudden outbursts of cheers sounded throughout the base. The war that everyone had feared had finally started. ''Nikki, play times here'' he said, refering to one of his newest, but one of the strongest members of his army. Currently she was in New York School, but he was sure she would be alarmed about his move soon.

Leon Julian Young

Kyan's statement about being given these powers to help people was quite a bit to take in. For a while now, Leon and Kyan had been discussing Wiccan and what his next move would be. Of course the two of them alone wouldn't be able to even put a dent in his forces. But what if there were other mutants out there that were willing to help aswell? ''I know how you feel Kyan, but there is nothing that we can do about it. Wiccan and his army are far stronger than us, and has had much more experience in battle. Even if we were to try and take him on...We would surely fail.'' He replied. He placed his hand on Kyan's shoulder and smiled. ''Besides...We know that Wiccan won't be making a move for a while, so let's just try and enjoy the time that we got now'' He spoke with a doubt about his words. He turned to the bell when it started to sound to signal that the first lesson was starting. ''Well that's my que to go. Ive got work to hand in for rtistic designs, so i'll catch you later?'' He told Kyan before running off in the direction of the door.

30 minutes had passed and Leon was sitting by his window table like he would normally. Staring out at the empty, open school grounds made him think of one thing, Wiccan. What exactly was his reasons for starting this war anyway? and why did he have to drag other mutants down with him? those were the questions that ran through Leon's head at that moment. There was a time when Leon was thinking about joining up with Wiccan because he gave a good reason to the mutants of New York. ''Mutants should not be treated any differently from humans. Just because we have special abilities we get treated like we're monsters and don't belong here. But what right does the law give the humans to cast us aside like yesturday's trash?'' Wiccan had said on the day he announced his pledge against the humans. As Leon shook his head to get rid of the image of war, the bell had rung to end the first class of today.

Throwing his bag over his shoulders, Leon made his way out of class and into the hallway. Then, suddenly a voice spoke through the speakers around the school. ''Students and staff, this is an emergency annoucement. We had heard from the authorities that Wiccan is out in the city with his group. They are making their way towards the holding tower and are planning on breaking out more mutants. Please do not panic, but I would like everyone to return home safely for today and school will continue tomorrow.'' The principal announced and then cut off the mic. No doubt heading home herself to get as far away from Wiccan. Leon's face went from shocked to angry. ''Damn it Wiccan!'' He raged. As other students started to push passed him, screaming and fearing the worst, Leon remained still. Then, just as he was about to take a step forward he started to feel light headed and a spark struck his head like something had been thrown.

''Leon Julian Young, please do not be fearful.'' A voice spoke. He did a 360 turn to see who had said that, but there was no one there and all of the other students had left the school grounds. ''I am not anywhere around you. I am in your head, speaking to you from a great distance. I contact you because for a while now, I have had a feeling that there was something about you that I could trust. Something inside you that was calling out to me. I have a limit on my power, but I am using the last of it to contact you and others that I believe can help save many lives. As I speak, Wiccan and his followers are heading to the mutant holding tower, and I need you to stop him from getting inside.'' The females voice pleaded. ''But what can I do?'' Leon wondered. After a few moments of complete silence the voice returned. ''I have no doubts that you will be able to stop them, but please I need you to join with others to do this. Together, you and the others will stand more of a chance to stop Wiccan's attack and hold them off for a while. Leave the rest up to me, I promise i'll tell you more later.'' Leon was unsure of what to do. Does he trust this voice in his head, and the voice of someone he doesn't even know the name of? ''Just who are you anyway?'' Leon asked. ''Emma Frost'' was the reply. A deep shiver spread throughout his body. Emma Frost was the only survivor of the Xavier school bombing. Leon turned to face the gate of the school. Footsteps sounded from behind him, but he thought it would be just other students, lately leaving the school.

Ray Lamont

Ray sat by the window of his office, staring out at the mostly empty grounds around the school. His eyes were flickering green behind his glasses as he used his powers to check his e-mail. That's when he noticed an e-mail from the Principal. He wanted Ray to substitute for a missing teacher. Ray sighed and blinked once, the green flecks in his eyes dissipating as he logged off the e-mail server. Another one is missing... how many is that now? He slid off the window sill and walked over to his old-fashioned coat rack and pulled his tan trenchcoat and matching hat off. He spun the coat around his back and slipped it on as he placed the fedora on his head. He adjusted his glasses and walked out of his office, clicking the lights off.

As he approached the room, he noticed a big jock trying to hit on a redhead. He tilted his head and smirked. She's a little old for you and way out of your league, pal. He then narrowed his eyes as the girl wrapped an arm around the jock's shoulder. This is going to end in one of two ways... The jock then recoiled as a small flicker appeared between their lips. A Pyrokinetic? That boy got off lucky. He chuckled as she walked into the nearby classroom. Hey wait... that's where I'm supposed to sub... He walked past the jock as his eyes flashed green for a quick second and the nearby water fountain emitted a jet of water at the jock's face. That should cool him off. Ray smirked and chuckled some more as he entered the classroom.

He saw where the redhead was sitting and, to be honest, it was kinda hard not due to her hair. He walked up behind her, his hands in the pockets of his coat, his voice soft and mature, "Aren't you a bit old to be in High School?"

Paul Matthew Evans
Paul sat at the back of the class, his test already finished, twirling his pencil in his fingers. He had flipped his test over so no one could copy the answers, and just sat staring at the far wall. He could see it all now... tomorrow his teacher would probably want to see him because there was no way Paul could have passed the test without cheating, though there would be no evidence and eventually they'd just have to live with it. Paul just smiled as the scenario played in his head. There were few things in life Paul actually found enjoyable, ticking off teachers just happened to be one of them.

A few seconds before the bell rang Paul was already out of his chair and heading up toward the front of the class. He placed his test on the front desk and was out the door just as the bell rang. He stopped at his locker, threw everything inside it, closed it and turned to lean against the wall, arms crossed. He watched the herd of students walking about the halls to their various classes wondering if this was how he would spend the rest of his life: as an outsider looking in.

" I used to be the clumsiest girl at my old school" Giving a warm smile up at Kevin, now knowing his name after reading it on the book " I'm Nikki Swan".

Paul watched as two students across the hall collided into one another. He didn't try to stop himself from laughing at how ridiculous they looked. As he watched them, though, he couldn't help but stare at the girl. He couldn't hear their conversation, but she looked so familiar. He was sure he'd seen her somewhere before, but he couldn't quite place it. Something about the hair didn't quite fit, it actually looked kinda fake to be honest.

Then, suddenly a voice spoke through the speakers around the school. ''Students and staff, this is an emergency announcement. We had heard from the authorities that Wiccan is out in the city with his group. They are making their way towards the holding tower and are planning on breaking out more mutants. Please do not panic, but I would like everyone to return home safely for today and school will continue tomorrow.''

Paul rolled his eyes, smirked and just shook his head as all the students stopped to listen, then, in a panic, started running toward the exits. The fire alarm went off because some kids, in such a rush, had exited through some of the fire exits. Paul just stood their watching as students and teachers alike rushed out the doors. In under 10 minutes everyone was out of the building and Paul stood their alone. "Do they honestly think they'd be safer in their homes then here?" Paul shook his head in amusement. A part of him wished he could be there with Wiccan and the others, busting out those innocent people. "Damn it, why do they have to go around killing their own kind?" Paul said in frustration as he hit his fist against the wall.

'There is a way for you to help.' Paul spun around, expecting to see someone there, only to find he was still completely alone.

"What the hell?" Paul spoke, kinda freaked out.

'Paul, there is still a way for you to help without joining Wiccan.' The voice spoke again, but it was almost as if it were coming from inside his head.

"Okay, being a mutant is one thing, now I'm gonna start hearing weird voices?" Paul sighed irritably.

'I'm here, Paul. Here in the tower.'

Paul turned and looked out the window at the tall mutant holding tower in the distance. "You're a mutant..." Paul said it as more of a statement then a question.

'My name is Emma Frost, and I have grown very weak. Please, I need your help. I know you were once a follower of Wiccan, and I know you oppose his views. He's coming to attack the tower and I need you to stop him.'

"You must be joking, I can't stop Wiccan!" Paul cried out, even though he knew the voice was only in his head.

'There will be others to help you, but you must hurry. I know there is good in you Paul, and I know you have the will to do what is right.'

Paul sighed, looking at the far off building worriedly. After a moment he shook his head. "I'm not as good as you think... I can't do it, I can't help you."

'You want to help your fellow mutants... this is your chance.' With that the voice faded, making Paul feel very alone.

His eyes dropped away from the tower to the school grounds just outside the door window he was looking through. He noticed another student standing outside just in front of the school gate. Paul wondered for a moment, debating whether or not to head over. 'She said there would be others.' Paul thought. Maybe he was one of the mutants that was going to try and stop Wiccan? "God, this is so stupid." Paul said impatiently, trying to decide what to do. If there was to be any hope for mutant salvation then this was probably it. Could Paul really pass up that kind of opportunity? He'd been so eager to join up with Wiccan and look where that had gotten him. Would it be worth it to ruin his life all over again? "Aw, screw it." Paul finally sighed and headed out toward the other student standing on the grounds, not even noticing that he wasn't wearing anything other then a t-shirt and jeans. "Not like I had anything better to do today."

Kyan Walker

Kyan listened to Julian’s wise words. Kyan knew his friend spoke sense but he couldn’t wrap his head around it, admitting defeat. He wouldn’t admit his thought to anybone though – it’d be far from helpful if he wanted to be social. Kyan wasn’t suicidal but with his power, he knew he could do so much more than slice pancakes. He nodded in response. “Yeah, I got a lecture on business to catch up on, as if that matters,” he grinned, heading off to his own class. He shifted through the ecstatic mass of students, all hurrying to their classes – some in big groups while others moving alone. He sighed and slipped into a comfortable seat right at the edge of the classroom, where his height wouldn’t disturb anyone.

Thirty minutes into the class, the principal made an announcement. Kyan didn’t pay attention at first – he was too busy scrawling a pentagonal “S” symbol on the last page of his book in boredom. But he quirked an eyebrow at Wiccan’s name, at first wondering if he’d heard her right. He rolled his eyes as a foul comment on mutants reached his ears, but then again, he couldn’t completely blame the person for it. He himself felt like that guy shouldn’t even exist. Kyan quickly tossed his books in the bag and followed the crowd outside when he suddenly heard a voice in his head. “Kyan Walker,”

Kyan instinctively turned around to see who had spoken to him, but none of the frantic faces around him looked like they were willing to stop to even tie their shoelaces, let alone talk to someone. “I am not around you. This contact we have is purely mental, thanks to my powers,” Kyan took a moment to digest the fact before realizing it was a mutant speaking to him. “I’ve scanned your thoughts and I have a feeling you’re willing to help out others around you. You have a great gift Kyan and I know you want to use it.” Kyan screwed his eyebrows in concentration.

“Who exactly are you?” he asked. “Emma Frost,” was the calm reply. Kyan recognized the name immediately. So she was able to use her powers, even while she was restrained. “You are not alone Kyan. I have contacted some fellow mutants to assist you. You have to stop Wiccan and his followers from getting inside.” The voice slowly faded away, leaving Kyan with nothing but his own thoughts to work out. He knew it couldn’t have been a hoax… there was an edge to the voice which was slightly desperate and inviting at the same time. I have nothing to lose he thought.

Kyan headed out of the school, having to jostle through students. He looked for Leon, whom he knew would’ve received the message as well. Kyan hovered slightly so as to have a better view to locate his friend. No one seemed to notice and he took to jogging again as he spotted the guy along with another person. It seemed easy enough since they were the only ones standing while majority of the students hurried about, trying not to look anxious. Kyan joined the crew. “Looks like the team’s building up.” He grinned, turning back to face the crowd of students emptying out of the school. Kyan hovered above ground half an inch, making it look like he was standing on tip-toe. He figured if there were any mutants around, they’d be observant enough to spot the supernatural ease with which he was ‘standing’. Or he'd just be called a show-off. Either way worked for Kyan.

Carley Michaels

As Carley sat down in the back corner of the biology classroom, the loud speaker crackled and the principal's voice echoed in the room.

''Students and staff, this is an emergency annoucement. We had heard from the authorities that Wiccan is out in the city with his group. They are making their way towards the holding tower and are planning on breaking out more mutants. Please do not panic, but I would like everyone to return home safely for today and school will continue tomorrow.''

As students and teachers flooded the halls in an attempt to be the first ones out of the school, Carley grabbed her bag to join the rush. She needed to get to Jeremy and Claire. They would be frightened and not know what to do. The doorway of the classroom was jammed with students. There was no way she was getting out that way. Turning around, Carley went for the windows along the far side of the room. The classroom was on the second floor of the school, all that was beneath the windows was pavement and a small patch of garden. Forcing one of the windows open, Carley glanced over her shoulder to make sure that nobody was watching. Thankfully, everyone else was too busy trying to get away that they did not spare a glance at the young woman. With the window open, Carley took a deep breath and jumped. Eyes flashing, Carley landed on the ground in a crouch, barely feeling the impact of the concrete.

Standing up, Carley made for the hedges which served as a short cut to the elementary school.

"Carley." The voice came from out of nowhere. Carley whirled around, trying to find the source of the voice. "Carley, they need you." She couldn't find anyone.

"Who's there? Where are you?" She snapped, focusing her senses, searching for a hint of life around her.

"I am here, inside your head."

"Well you can get the hell out of my head right now." Carley snarled.

"You have to help, Carley. You have to help stop Wiccan and his army."

"Like hell I do. The only thing I have to do is get my brother and sister and get them home."

"If Wiccan succeeds in his plans, you won't have a home anymore, Carley."

"You don't know what you're talking about." Carley shook her head, trying to knock the voice away.

"Jeremy and Claire are not in danger right now," the sound of her siblings' names stopped Carley, "but they will be if Wiccan succeeds in his plan. There are others like you waiting at the school gates. Please, help them stop Wiccan."

The voice disappeared, leaving Carley with a thousand thoughts racing through her mind. She stared at the hedges, debating what the hell she was going to do. With a snarl, Carley turned around and made her way towards the school gates. Three people stood there already and, as Carley approached them, the wind blew carrying the scent of mutant blood.

"So," Carley said, stopping next to the three, "this is where the party's at, huh."
