“You can’t know what control really means, until you lose it”

For centuries, there have been legends of good Power Rangers, and evil Power Rangers. But never have there been legends of teams in constant turmoil over their alignment. 3,000 years ago, on the planet Kard, there were monsters known as the Natamari, creatures that could turn any living being into a monster by rewriting their DNA organically. The morphing grid had a team of Power Rangers known as the Power Rangers Cosmo Force. In their regular forms, they resembled what a Power Ranger would be recognised as today, however, in their ‘dark’ mode, they resembled what Astronema would later use as the template for her Psycho Rangers in the battle against the Space Rangers. It gave them power beyond what they could possibly imagine, and the race they were fighting sometimes had monsters that could only be seen by a dark alignment. But this ability came at a price as it was made from the mind essence of the Natamari; it began to warp the rangers’ minds and make them go mad with corruption and power. Eventually, their connection was cut to the morphing grid, but the damage was done. The Dark Form’s sentinent existence had hinged the Rangers’ sanity to the morphing grid, causing them to lose their minds when their powers were lost and turned them into monsters they modelled themselves on.

In the year 1998 they were discovered by princess of evil Astronema to create as her Psycho Rangers to defeat her enemies at the time, the Space Rangers. By this time, the Psycho Rangers gained the ability, while it was weaker than their original power, and as such they began to become impatient, their will modelled from their hosts 3000 years ago. Unfortunately, the Space Rangers eventually defeated them after a long and hard battle between them. Their essences were however turned into data cards by Darkonda, but the psycho rangers weren’t giving up trying to find a physical form to possess. They almost succeeded by turning the Space Rangers into data cards themselves and assembling a body for themselves, but that plan ultimately failed and while the Space Rangers escaped, the Psycho Rangers were trapped in a data card prison once more. After being rescued by Deviot and battling the Galaxy Rangers and Space Rangers, they were seemingly destroyed. However, their spirits once again roamed the galaxy, and eventually made their way to Earth.

However, a descendant of the original Kardian race, Light, has been keeping track of the Psycho Rangers for decades. He knows they’re on their way to Earth, but unfortunately, so is the Natamari, dormant after so long preparing to make an invasion of Earth to create slaves for themselves. Light makes his way to Earth with his connections to representatives of K0-35, Andros and Zhane and with the new Light Morphers makes his way to Earth to recruit new strong-willed fighters to take up the cause and hold back the invasion by borrowing weapons and Zords from Andros, Zhane and an Earth citizen named Mr Hartford and together they develop new ranger armour to result in what would eventually known as the A-Squad SPD Uniform. But what he doesn’t know is that the Psycho Rangers have managed to sneak into the circuitry of the morphers and fuse themselves with it, effectively giving the wearer a Light and Dark Form once more.

When the time comes, will the new team of Cosmo Rangers have free will over their decisions, or will the Psycho Rangers take control of them? That lies in the role-player’s hands….

Angel Grove Youth Centre and Juice Bar
Run down apartment (Light’s homebase and hideout)

Villains
Sergeant Jackal – The leader of the Natamari. Not of Natamari decent himself, he was taken captive as a KO-35 teenager and assimilated. He rose through the ranks quickly in the military portion. While he seems very cold, inside, there’s a human crying for help in that alien body.

Countress Abade – The second in command and Queen of the Natamari. The bride of Sergeant Jackal, although she loves to torment the rangers about the growing evil inside of them, especially the male rangers.

David Richards – A corrupt CEO working for Mandora Industries, an industry that specializes in organic experiments and also has very good connections in the media. He’s struck a bargain with the Natamari, he doesn’t interfere in attacks, he gets the media to give the rangers bad publicity, he also relies on the rangers’ Psycho Ranger moral dilemmas in order to do this. Is he a disposable adversary, or someone who’s quessential to stopping the invasion? Tough choice…

Heijari – The footsoldiers of the Natamari – Deadly blob humanoid creatures, similar to Ivan Ooze’s footsoldiers but they’re covered in black goo, which is harmless in in small doses. In large doses however, it begins to take over the blood cells of a human being and an adult male can usually be converted into a Heijari from between 2 and 24 hours. Their mission in the Earth invasion is to develop Natamari hives to capture humans and turn them into Heijari, which may cause problems for the rangers in the middle of a fight with them. The rangers themselves are usually immune from capture because of the Psycho Ranger influence, but saving a civilian from being assimilated may present more moral dilemmas.

Light Morpher in Dark Mode

This morpher is heavily based on the Operation Overdrive morphing technology developed by Andrew Hartford. The differences being that there is no scanner in the Light Morpher, the button that operated it in it's place allows the ranger to switch between Light Mode and Dark Mode. The turbine also no longer works and the number pad are different blaster settings and zord passwords. Upon input of a specific frequency, (14575) the Mega Voyager Launch Bay is released. 161249 is the code to change the zords to the Mega Destructor Zords.

Crystal Blaster: (first five rangers only)
Transparent firearm that can be attached to the light morpher for higher frequency or firing rate settings.

Laser Revolver: (Silver Ranger only)
While designed in the same way in the five rangers' crystal blasters, the Silver Ranger's blaster is modelled like a revolver.

How the Psycho Ranger aspect will come into play
Corruption
The Psycho Ranger suits effectively work like a powerup along the lines of the Legend Mode from MF and SWAT Mode from SPD. It provides you with extra strength and abilities, but your alignment may begin to shift as you begin to grow overconfident and arrogant. The more the dark suits are used, the more corrupt your ranger will be and the more control the Psycho Ranger will have control over you. If used excessively, your character’s personality might not even be recognisable anymore if they’re really unlucky. This forces the player to be careful in what they think is too strong and what conventional weapons can beat them.

Moral Dilemmas
Yes. Each ranger will be presented with moral dilemmas throughout the course of the story that they’ll have to act on quickly. You never know what ranger would just want to destroy an ailing monster who’s given guarantees to join the rangers’ side at their benefit or to destroy a citizen who’s about transform into a Natamari. And to make things more difficult, the Psycho Rangers will be tugging at the rangers’ minds trying to pull them in the wrong direction. If you’re not careful, and the Zords are in dark mode too, they too may try to pull you to making an evil choice.

Name:
Relation: (Optional)
Nicknames: (Optional)
Age: (18-24)
Ranger Designation:
Appearance: (Picture and/or Description. No Anime Pictures please. Thank you)
Personality:
Hobbies:
History: (Two paragraphs minimum. Make it detailed, what has your character done in the past. Has he or she been tempted by corruption before?)
How easily tempted is your character:
I don’t want any perfect goody goodies, everyone would be tempted with something. Of course, you can make your character hard to corrupt, but go into detail onto what their morals and beliefs are

I won’t be taking a ranger role, but the role of the mentors, allies and villains.
Morphing Sequence:

Light Mode (All Six)
(If you're coming back to this from Dark Mode, press the left button again to return to Light Mode. You don't need to use it unless you're in civilian form]

(NAME) pressed the middle button on the Light Morpher as data streams began to activate on the screen. Pulling it back then pushing it foward, he/she begins to shout:

“Light Cosmo, Activate!"

He/She then pressed the button and ended up in a brightly illuminated dimension of (ranger colour) and jumped upwards into the light. His/Her body started to become illuminated until eventually his/her ranger suit materialized and the helmet clamped around his/her head, the helmet giving a (ranger colour) shine. (NAME) could feel peaceful vibes entering inside of him/her when he/she returned to reality, but he/she was ready for battle.

Dark Mode
(NAME) pressed the left button on the Light Morpher, it’s light, white pearl exterior slowly twisting and turning to form a dark, almost monstrous purple state with cryptic patterns covering it. He/She then holds up above him/her, pressing the middle button, he/she then shouts:

“Dark Cosmo, activate!”

Then, upon pressing the button, he/she finds himself/herself in a shadow, smoke covered dimension, almost being blinded by the purple mist. His/Her civilian clothing/ranger suit began to be covered by another suit, this one of black and chrome (ranger colour) armour. (NAME) began to scream in pain as the suit covered his/her body, taking a leap down into the purple dark spiral, he/she stands up as (Psycho Red/Psycho Black/Psycho Blue/Psycho Yellow/Psycho Pink/Psycho Silver). (NAME) could feel his/her inhibitions slipping away as he/she returned to reality in the new dark suit.

RULES:
The Psycho Ranger suits are not to be taken lightly. Yes, they provide you with extra strength abilities, but they come at the cost of corruption. The more you use it, the more selfish and twisted your ranger becomes. It’s not to be taken lightly, and I expect that to be shown in your posts. You can still fight your corruption by all means, but I expect to see at least slight side effects of using the mode.

Using it for excessive godmodding won’t be tolerated like assuming another ranger’s actions or finishing a battle in a matter of seconds. Strike 1 for godmodding with the Psycho Ranger suits will be accelerated corruption, Strike 2 is a Wanted Bounty set out for your ranger, and Strike 3 is complete corruption and your character is effectively dead.

The same goes for moral decisions. Yes, you can go against what other team members think they should do for the moral decision, but that doesn’t mean you can assume that they’ll think the same thing. This could lead in a bout of conflict between the team, but don’t assume everyone agrees with you.

However, it’s not as dark and as grim as that entirely, as player interaction and even relationships are encouraged. If you intend to do the latter though, get the person you want to pair up with’s permission first. Minor cussing is allowed, but even though this is Rated R don't go to extremes and I would prefer it if you could post at least twice a week.

Other than that, hope you have fun!
