The Story

For ages a war has been waged between the evil Negavores and the inhabitants of the planet Gemstar. The leader of the Negavores, Emperor Gaxor wishes to obtain the power of the Beetle Gems, passed down through the civilization of Gemstar. The chosen guardian of the gems, Zara has resisted Gaxor's forces for a long time.

Until the dreaded day that Zara couldn't hold the evil back. That is when the planet of Gemstar was taken from her. As she sat back in the chambers of Gaxor's containment base. She watched her world fall to pieces. Once everyone was gone all hope was extinct. Except the three Beetle Gems. Zara had been holding these three powerful crystals for what seemed to be a eternity. If she would find three holders she knew she would be able to stop Gaxor. But she couldn't do it on Gemstar.

So using her all powerful magic she transformed herself into an spark of white energy. This allowed her to free herself from the clutches of Gaxor. Traveling for light years in search of a planet that was capable of this power.

After traveling far, far away from her home Zara finally decided to choose Earth as the planet to search for three individuals to wield the power of the Beetle Gems. She settled in a little town called Calvert Cove. And for a time, she remained hidden though Emperor Gaxor's forces scowered the galaxy in search of her. It took him awhile, but at last he managed to track her down. Well, not her exact location, but he knew she was somewhere on Earth. Zara took some time to settle in, finding a nice home in the mountains. She was looking carefully through the town, searching for three individuals worthy of wielding the power of the Beetle Gems.

But she knew she had to search faster. Time was running out for Zara and all humanity. As Zara searched the globe, Gaxor's forces started to attack cities all over the world one by one. Millions of houses and people were destroyed. Zara couldn't take much more of this, she knew this was her fault. But she couldn't quit now, or else everything that she has done would be for nothing. Zara could not have that one bit.

The day has now arrived, Zara must choose the protectors of Earth today. Will she choose you?

3. I do not require novels for your histories, however, I do ask that it be at least a few paragraphs of at least 5-7 sentences.
4. If you can't post at least a few times a week, don't apply. I need RPers I can count on. If you're going to be away, let me or redranger06 know.
5. Relationships between character's are fine, as long you get the OK from the other person.
6. NO ONE LINE POSTS, PERIOD. If I see any one line posts, you will recieve a warning. Continue posting one-liners, and you risk being recasted.

Question

Name: Zhuchin Lye
Nickname: Zuke
Age: 52 (young adulthood)
Beetleborg Designation: Shadowborg
Appearance:
http://saintluke.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/sylar.jpg
Personality: Ever since bonding with the Black Beetle Gem, Zuke suffers from what humans would term a split personality. His true personality is a loyal general to Emperor Gaxor. Despite being exiled from the Negaverse (for reasons detailed below), Zuke was raised by Emperor Gaxor and maintains a strong loyalty to the villainous overlord. He's intelligent and a brilliang military strategist, having attended the finest school in the Negaverse to learn everything a loyal general of Gaxor's would need to know. He is the epitome of the perfect military man.

However, more and more often lately, the Black Beetle Gem has begun to exert an influence on Zuke. He loses his composure and lucidity, becoming a compassionate and kind freedom fighter. Bother of these personalities are constantly warring for control of Zuke's soul, for lack of a better term. One moment, Zuke may help the Beetleborgs in battle against Emperor Gaxor's fiendish monsters. The next, Zuke may join Gaxor's monsters in an attempt to annihilate the Beetleborgs and claim their Beetle Gems for the Negaverse.

History: Zuke was destined for greatness from birth. Emperor Gaxor himself took a liking to an unimportant member of his staff, and months later, Zuke was born. Whether or not Gaxor was actually Zuke's father was never firmly established, as any evidence of such is circumstantial at best. Despite being born to an unwed serving girl in Gaxor's court, Zuke was looked favorably upon by Gaxor. He received the best food, the best education, the best life he could possibly have hoped for under the circumstances. Zuke's mother took a less and less active role in Zuke's life as he grew up, as Lord Gaxor took even more of an interest in the boy.

When he passed his coming-of-age ceremony, Zuke was granted the highest of honors - entrance into Fellkor Academy, the most prestigious school in all of the Negavore Empire. He learned everything there, from mathematics to military strategy. Zuke excelled in his classes, which was of course the reason Emperor Gaxor "encouraged" the school to admit him, after all. Zuke passed with flying colors, and was granted an even higher honor - entrance into Emperor Gaxor's circle of trusted generals. Gaxor took Zuke under his wing, grooming the young man as a king would groom a prince, all for the day far in the future when Zuke would take Gaxor's place as ruler of the Negaverse. Zuke became the most capable of any in Gaxor's court, second in prestige and influence only to the Emperor himself.

Years into Zuke's service, the war with Gemstar came to a head. Gaxor was becoming obsessed with finding the legendary jewels, the three Beetle Gems. When Zara fled Gemstar with the gems, Gaxor was furious that the magnificent power of the Beetle Gems was denied him. Even as he ordered his troops to scour the universe for the powerful artifacts, Gaxor had his mystics study Gemstar's conquered archives for any hint as to where the Beetle Gems came from, or how to forge more. The true secret of the Gems had been long since lost to antiquity, but there was enough information scattered in Gemstar's various libraries that Gaxor's mystics thought they could create a reasonable facsimile of a Beetle Gem. A living host would be needed to complete the process, and Zuke volunteered his services. Gaxor was wary to risk his greatest general, but Zuke was confident that the gift of a new Beetle Gem would outweigh any risks involved.

The forging was a success. A new Beetle Gem was created, colored a deep black, and bonded to Zuke. However, the otherdimensional energies of the Black Beetle Gem seemed to have an adverse effect on Zuke's mind. Suddenly, the clear focus of Gaxor's most trusted lieutenant was gone. Zuke would randomly shift from moments of his trademark lucidity and intelligence to nonsensical babbling and incoherency. Worse, i his darker moments, Zuke committed the most treasonous of crimes - questioning the plans of Emperor Gaxor in front of those loyal to him. Gaxor deemed the project a failure and redoubled his efforts to find the true Beetle Gems. In gratitude for his years of loyal service, Gaxor allowed Zuke to live unharmed, although being thrown into the royal dungeons might as well have been a death sentence.

Gaxor would come to regret his mercy, however, as Zuke used the powers of the Black Beetle Gem to escape his confinement. He stole one of Gaxor's imperial cruisers and set off into the universe for reasons he himself doesn't even know. Before leaving the Negaverse Homeworld, Zuke destroyed all the research Gaxor's mystics had compiled on the Beetle Gems, setting the emperor's plans back years (and inadverdently giving Zara a bit more time until Gaxor found her). Gaxor swore revenge on Zuke, yet still had a soft spot for the boy. He allowed Zuke to leave, but swore that he would destroy his former general should Zuke ever allow himself to be spotted in Gaxor's sphere again.

Zuke spent the next several years wandering the cosmos. He did anything he could to survive, from stealing to transporting people in his stolen ship. It was a meager existence, far below what he was used to, but Zuke endured. The Beetle Gem had changed him somehow (well, obviously). Zuke, in his heart of hearts, was still loyal to Emperor Gaaxor, despite everything that had happened. However, the Black Beetle Gem altered his mind, and Zuke began suffering more and more fits of incoherency. He had what some people would call a split personality; one, a loyal general of Emperor Gaxor, and one, a peace loving warrior of good. He was still struggling to find his balance when the three true Beetle Gems called to him through his Black Beetle Gem. Without consciously knowing why, Zuke set a course for a backwater planet known as Earth to continue participating in the war between Gaxor and Zara for possession of the Beetle Gems. Would he fight for Gaxor to claim their power, or would he fight with the Beetleborgs to protect the universe from Gaxor's evil?

Only time would tell.
