I was not a fan of it. I felt that it was written like a bad fan fiction.

I give it a C+ at best.

B to b+ for me. It's not the best episode but it was fun seeing Adam come back and see how he had developed. The only thing I would have changed is since the villain is supposed to be rita and Zed's son I would have used more MMPR and Zeo rangers :

Team = Jason : Red MMPR , Kim : Pink MMPR , Aisha Yellow MMPR , Rocky : Blue Zeo , Adam Green Zeo , Tommy : Black Dino Thunder.

See Tommy is used to have a disney character but having all of them come back and be the main team if it was still 2 parts or even better 3 parts would have just been the greatest.

I gave it a B. I did enjoy the team-up, but I would have rather of seen older Rangers. Besides Adam it was all Disney Rangers. I mean, the main Operation Overdrive were Disney Rangers. They could have shelled out the cash to bring back 5 Rangers from Saban's era!

D. It really was written like bad fanfiction.

I enjoyed it. If you forget the plot holes and stuff and just watch it, IT'S GREAT!! I gave it an A

It was good to see Adam, Xander and Kira back. Bridge was just a neat waste of choice, and as SPD Red at that. I wasn't in favour of him being even blue at the end of SPD. No matter how much you change his character, I can't see Bridge as red. They could've made a dozen better choices... probably Chad from LSR?

Anywho, the episode itself was pretty cool. Them removing the MMPR theme for Adam was a stinker (yeah, I do know why that happened though). The Overdrive Rangers just gave up and left, as if it was a break they were looking for. But the alliance of villains was mega-cool. And the whole concept, that the new rangers came and actually stayed for a couple of battles instead of appearing to fight together once, was fresh and new. We saw Mack's leadership here and it was overall a great watch the first time around.

I don't care about the Thrax plothole. I found it cool they thought along the lines of the children of past characters, so it's cool far as I'm concerned. An A from me.

Its a nice C in my book.

I honestly only liked it because they had various past rangers return. But really only Adam made the fan in me squeel with delight. I liked his new morphing sequence. It was a nice step up from the original.

They couldve handled Thrax so much better and given us an explaination as to when he was born and what his parents are up to now. If Rita turned all good (as in MF) and everything I cant imagine him or her being happy with each other. I wouldve gone for a simple "Rita and Zedd were returned to their former evil states, have Thrax who aged at a rapid rate, controls a couple of galaxys like dear old dad. He heard his parents go on and on about the Power Rangers and he came to earth to see what they were about. I would have also given him a better appearance.

One thing that really hurt this episode, for me, was the bad fight scenes. They had the most explosions, CGI, wires, and just plain unthoughtful choreography. As I said, it was written like a bad Fan Fiction. It made plot holes, the team just quit(twice), the Veteran team was not picked well at all. I mean all but one were from show that were still shown on TV, come on, give us some older ones.
So like I said, C.
The only things that saved it from being a D were:
Xander, Tori, and the fact that I didn't want to sound mean.

Tori, and the fact that I didn't want to sound mean.

She did look hotter in Once a Ranger.

Copy&Paste from another Once a Ranger thread.

-------------------------------------------------

I was really looking foward to this team up, I thought it would be one of the best. Adam, Xander, Tori, Kira and Bridge, I actually really liked the team up. Shame it was during Operation Overdrive, but nevermind. I heard that Zedd and Rita's son would return. Adam and Zedd/Rita's son, I thought, finally some retro action. I wasn't too happy with Dino Thunder's attempt to recreate a little Mighty Morphin sparkle, Tommy was boring, too many powerups every other day (the old team fought most battles un-morphed, and then morphed if they had to, they had no Super Dino Mode in the good old days), however Kira was pretty much my favorite member out of their, and (although overpowered and unecessary) I did enjoy the Triassic Ranger.

Anyway, I took this as a new attempt to create some retro magic, without dedicating a whole series to it (potential multi-fail), too right too (a whole series of this would have been disasterious). The ranger choice was good, they were each my favorite of their respective seasons (excluding Xander, technically Lienbow and Daggeron were my favorite of Mystic Force, but Xander was my favorite of the core team). As soon as each of the Disney rangers made an appearance, with their theme tunes, I was starting to get into this. Then... Adam came, that tune... that awful tune.

I understand that Disney couldn't afford the rights to the MMPR tune, but... it wasn't EVEN remotely close to the style of Aaron Waters AT ALL, it was so.... Disney, I hated it. So whiney, so much treble, so little bass, so weak, no depth, sounds like it was coming out of small speakers from a personal walkmen. Thrax was an awful villain, I hated him, everything ABOUT him. I can't list what I didn't like because he IS the list, there wasn't anything ABOUT him that I liked at all. I liked the idea of Alpha inside the Morphin Grid, but... giving Adam all those power ups too, Defender Vest, the Cycle?
WHY?

Man it's like an exact copy of Vegeta in Dragonball GT. He has his pride, he would never EVER surrender or give any indication that his pride was weak, his pride was indeed strong. He would do things by himself, with no help, no matter what the challenge. When Dragonball Z ended, Dragonball GT was an excuse just to carry on the story, but it was a weak story, poor and rushed storywriting JUST to lengthen the franchise and character as far as they could. Vegeta, often fixated on fighting battles alone, fused with Goku in DBZ at the end, but that was different. Goku asked Vegeta to fuse, and it was because Vegeta's family had been killed by Buu. But... in Dragonball GT. Their families were not dead, they were still alive, watching the battle. Not only did Vegeta ask for his wife's help to transform into a new form (he would NEVER do that in DBZ), but he also asked Goku to fuse (this time). Overpowered, going against the character traits, just for the purpose of a plotdevice, like a bad fanfiction.

Once a Ranger was just the same. Adam was once a disiplined, spiritual servant to the arts of Shaolin Kung Fu, fighting unmorphed, only morphing when the battle forced him too. I mean look at Always a Chance, Carlos (morphed) was fighting a monster, and Adam ASSISTED UNMORPHED, that's right. Adam, fought a whole monster, completely un morphed. That was his principle, it always was. In Once a Ranger, just for the purpose to extend his history, they overpowered him using plot devices such as the Defender Vests. This was COMPLETLEY against Adam's previous character, the one that me, and many, loved.

Once a Ranger was like a bad fanfiction. I hate it.

------------------------------------------------

This was before the discussions in the main section about Adam 'developing' over the course of ten years. But my point still stands, there is a difference between personality change (of same character, development) and character change (out of character, surreal, often critical).

I mentioned this is another thread. one thing that did anger me in once a ranger = the showing of the morphing grid. Until then it seemed like "the force" in star wars. But once it was shown all mystical and spiritual feel it had was gone forever. That annoyed me to no end. It lost it's effect.

Alright, I decided to give Once a Ranger another whirl, and say something positive about the episodes for once, and this is my update.

Villains suck, Overdrive rangers suck, Adam sucked. :D:p

But the other Retro Rangers were awesome. Kira and Tori were not only awesome, but smokin hawt, Tori's attack ruled. It was a bit Dragonball, but the point is, it worked! Bridge truely showed us his maximum potential as a martial artist and athlete, and you just gotta love Xander. They truely were the best of the Disney Rangers. Disney made a good choice.

Dax kinda made me lol a bit too.

Now NEVER let me type anything positive about Once a Ranger again, or I will not be capable of my actions lol.

This was the only good thing that came out of this horrible season. Makes me wish Hartford had gotten Adam, Xander, Kira, and Tori to be his rangers.

She did look hotter in Once a Ranger.

She is just one of the 2 characters from Ninja Storm I liked. I liked her personality, plus she is a good fighter.

I would have said Kira on that list, but I am just sick of her comming back.
I like Adam too, but not this Adam.

D. It really was written like bad fanfiction.

I just watched this again. I'm raising it to a low B.

It was written like bad fanfiction, but damned if it wasn't fun fanfiction.

The story was pretty good and moreover i enjoyed watching the old rangers come back
so i've given it a "A" !!!

Watching this agian it just gets worse...The fights werent that great and you could tell they werent even connecting with their targets.

And I now firmly believe that Thrax is not Rita/Zedds child but just some crazy guy who has led himself and wants everyone else to believe that he is their child.

Yep, after the first time I gave it a "B", but after seeing it a few more times, I would give it a C- at best, maybe a D(I am done trying to sound nice about it)

I go from:
1.The story sucked, the fights were bad, the choice in characters was not so good.
2.The story sucks, the fights suck, the character choice was bad
3. The story more than sucked, the worst fights ever, the character choice still is bad(Bridge being red will never sit right with me)

and just got more worse the more I saw it.

Pros

It was a reunion episode
Adam returned
Adam's new morph looked kewl.
Alpha returned.
Lots of namedrops and throwback

Cons

No MMPR music for Adam
Should have had more Saban rangers
Should have had Richard Steven Horvitz for Alpha's Voice, or at least not put the audio effect on it.
Alpha was too tall
Episode seemed so rushed
Reeked of Amit Bhaumik

I give it a B

The unmorphed fight scenes were great, it was awesome seeing Adam, Xander and Bridge again. Kira and Tori were HAWT! They're mainly the reason I'd give the episode an 'A'. The villains getting together under one rule was kinda cool as well. Overall an 'A' I guess.

I give it a C-

They brought back Adam but only having 1 Saban Era Ranger sucked, Not using the MMPR Music, changing Adam's Morph (though It was cool I think it would've been better if he Said MASTADON! with his Morpher like in Seasn 2 and then the Digital Morphing), Screwing up Alpha 6's Voice, Bridge as Red Ranger (I can't see him as leader) and the Overdrive Ranger's just giving up

I now why none of the MMPR stuff wasn't used because Disney doesn't have the rights to use it

Primal Slayer

It also didnt make any sense to bring a SPD ranger back (I do like them) from the future when you had so many rangers in the present time that couldve taken Bridges place.

I was more wondering of the Dragon Dagger tune in Fighting Spirit. But that's only seven notes, maybe the rights to a tune only exceeds a set number of notes.

No the theme song "go go power rangers" played over a few clips and it was like one song with the music playing to show that, same with other clips.

It was in Tomny's head. He was doped up on pain killers that's why white ranger flew down and green had a diffrent helmet. He wasn't thinking right.

I just finished watching it and I think with some polish the sotryline would have worked better, but it wasn't horrid.

The ranger choices were terrible though. Honestly what does Kira, Xander, Bridge and Tori know about Zedd and Rita.. While great rangers in there own right I seriously feel that bringing back at least one more of the originals would have fit much more, or even bringing back Tommy to represent DT season would have made more sense. though in retrospect bringing back tomy along with Adam would have overlapped retro ranger colors.

Over all I think it wasn't bad, but could have been done ALOT better, so I give it a C

To be fair, Disney used Tommy in DinoThunder and plenty of past rangers were in Forever Red. Adam is the second longest serving ranger, after Tommy, and is a cultural icon to many fans. Having Adam serve as Black MMPR brings back a real nostalgic feel to the eps. As for the other rangers, I was happy about all of them with the exception of Bridge for one reason... he's in the future, if SPD had taken place on an other planet or on earth in 2005 then he would have been fine.
Thrax is no problem, we know that Rita had been imprisoned for 10,000 years and knew Zedd even before she was sealed, so the whole plot hole of RitaZedd can be explained.
